Chief Samoset (1590-1653)

Samoset is a famous chief of the Pemaquid Indian tribe of Powhatan Confederacy. He was very friendly towards the English Pilgrims and introduced them to the Wampanoag sachem, Massasoit. He did the first land deal in 1625 and sold another pacel of the land to the English colonists in 1653. He was buried in his hometown Bristol, Maine after his death.
